Online Interview
The online interview gives a chance for the Admission Committee to check your aims and motivation for choosing your field of studies. It is also a possibility for us to check that your English skills are adequate for completing the chosen major.
The interview will take about 8-10 minutes. You will be asked to speak about yourself, your motivations, your plans etc. and it is highly recommended for you to prepare for it in advance.
In addition, here is a list of questions that may be asked:
General:
- Please tell me about yourself.
- How would your friends describe you?
- What is your greatest strength (and weakness)?
- What were your favourite subjects at school?
- Why do you want to attend university?
- What do you know about our Faculty?
- What can you bring to the university?
- What do you know about Pécs/Hungary?
- If you plan to pursue more than one major, tell us why both majors are important to you.
- Tell us about your academic-, personal interests and goals.
- Discuss how your personal experiences prepare you to solve problems in diverse teams, and for a diverse world.
- What achievement are you most proud of?
For architecture students (PORTFOLIO)
Our committee will evaluate your portfolio and ask a number of questions based on your work. These may include:
- What is your favourite design? Why?
- What were the challenges you had to solve in that design?
- What experience(s) do you have in architecture?
- Do you have a favourite architect or style of architecture? Can you give some examples?
For engineering students:
- How important is engineering in your country at the moment? Why?
- Do you have a favourite engineer? What did they design?
- What do you think about the urban environment of Pécs, (if you have lived in Pécs), or in your home country? What do you like and dislike about it?
- Do you have a favourite building material or structure? Why did you choose this?
- Do you have any special interests inside the field of engineering? Why do you think it is important?
Civil Engineering
- What is your motivation for majoring in Civil Engineering?
- What kind of experiences have you had so far (e.g. work, research, leadership, or extracurricular) are important to you?
- What are your future goals?
- If you have faced unusual circumstances or even you had to overcome significant obstacles (medical, financial, cultural or personal) to reach where you are now, could describe how these challenges affected your education and impacted your academic record?
- Can you introduce yourself and your related experience as a civil engineer? What sort of projects were you involved in?
- Why you would like to study in the MSc programme?
Computer Science Engineering
- What is your motivation for majoring in Computer Science Engineering?
- What kind of experiences have you had so far (e.g. work, research, leadership, or extracurricular) are important to you?
- What are your future goals?
- If you have faced unusual circumstances or even you had to overcome significant obstacles (medical, financial, cultural or personal) to reach where you are now, could describe how these challenges affected your education and impacted your academic record?
- Discuss any activities/extracurriculars you are particularly committed to (CS-related or not), why you are involved in these activities, and the skills or insights you gained that you will bring into your future work.
- What are your preferred programming languages and why?
- Why you would like to study in the MSc programme?
Electrical Engineering
- What is your motivation for majoring in Electrical Engineering?
- What kind of experiences have you had so far (e.g. work, research, leadership, or extracurricular) that are important to you?
- What are your future goals?
- If you have faced unusual circumstances or even you had to overcome significant obstacles (medical, financial, cultural or personal) to reach where you are now, could describe how these challenges affected your education and impacted your academic record?
- Discuss any activities/extracurriculars you are particularly committed to, why you are involved in these activities, and the skills or insights you gained that you will bring into your future work.
- What electrical engineering computer software are you familiar with?
- What motivates you to succeed or do your best?
- What, do you feel, separates you from other candidates?
