Are you interested in industrial design, innovation, and modern engineering thinking?
Would you like to create products that are aesthetically appealing, functional, and technically sophisticated at the same time? Are you open to creative problem-solving, digital design, and the application of advanced manufacturing technologies?
The Industrial Design Engineering Bachelor’s programme offers an integrated approach in which classical engineering knowledge, design thinking, human-centred design, and innovation are combined into a unified perspective. During the programme, students gain insight into the complete product development process — from idea generation and concept design through modelling, prototyping, and digital design to manufacturing and market integration.
The practice-oriented structure of the programme enables students to develop their creative and technical competencies in a modern modelling and digital design environment. Special emphasis is placed on visual culture, ergonomics, sustainability, and the development of the complex mindset required in today’s product development and design processes.
Programme Objectives
The aim of the programme is to educate industrial design engineers who are capable of integrating technical, aesthetic, human, and economic aspects throughout the entire product development process. Graduates will be qualified to design, develop, model, and support the manufacturing processes of innovative industrial products.
Students acquire contemporary knowledge and practical skills that enable them to respond creatively and efficiently to continuously evolving technological and market challenges. They will be able to coordinate different stages of product development, analyse user needs, apply sustainable and human-centred design principles, and utilise advanced digital design and manufacturing technologies.
The programme also provides a strong foundation for continuing studies at Master’s level and offers excellent professional opportunities within both the Hungarian and international industrial, creative, and innovation sectors.
The Uniqueness of the Programme in Pécs
Our Faculty is the leading technical higher education institution in the South Transdanubian region, uniquely combining engineering precision with design culture. The Industrial Design Engineering programme operates with an interdisciplinary approach in which engineers work together with architects, interior designers, visual artists, and design professionals.
One of the programme’s most distinctive features is its project-based and creative educational methodology, allowing students to acquire design competencies through real-world design challenges and development projects. Modern digital modelling and visualisation technologies, physical model-making, and prototype development all play a significant role in the training process.
This is the field where creativity, intuitive thinking, engineering functionality, and aesthetic sensitivity strengthen and complement one another.
