Scope of the research team
+ Smart urban management solutions;
+ Production of secondary fuels/energy carriers from municipal solid waste and sewage sludge;
+ Production of secondary raw materials from municipal solid waste, production, and construction solid waste;
+ Life cycle analysis of production and waste treatment processes;
+ Non-destructive material testing based on complex impedance measurements using tomographic and spectroscopic methods: (analysis of cored rock samples, welds, heterogeneous waste deposits, soil contamination, etc.);
+ Municipal solid waste collection logistics and management;
+ Development co-fermentation technology for decomposing organic waste;
+ Health effects of the urban environment, biological monitoring.
Research objectives of the research team
Our team is focused on the implementation of the concept of "smart city - resilient city": developing resilient systems that can react quickly to external changes is the main focus, including addressing the increasing likelihood of extreme/critical situations due to climate change and to prevent or minimize damage. A common feature of the solutions developed is that they use environmentally sustainable (energy, emissions, etc.) and affordable smart technologies.

Environmental innovations generate specific, marketable know-how and the provision of a wide range of measurement services (analytical, material, biodegradation, electromagnetic measurements, etc.), which could be complemented by the production of high added value products in the framework of future TIP projects. Our research will develop resource-efficient methods to ensure a long term healthy living environment for present and future generations.
