UP FEIT Architecture Program Earns Prestigious UNESCO-UIA International Accreditation

The Institute of Architecture at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (UP FEIT), has been awarded the prestigious UNESCO–UIA Architectural Education Accreditation, administered by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The full, unconditional accreditation concludes a rigorous two-year evaluation process—an honour currently held by only 11 institutions worldwide.
The assessment reviewed the Institute’s architectural BSc and MSc programmes, organisational operations, infrastructure, and both teaching and student performance. The accreditation follows the principles of the UNESCO-UIA Charter for Architectural Education, a globally recognised framework defining high-quality architectural training.
Reflecting on the achievement, Dr Donát Rétfalvi, Head of the Institute of Architecture, emphasised that the recognition affirms the international standard of architectural education in Pécs and provides a strong foundation for future development. Dean Dr Gabriella Medvegy highlighted that the process provided valuable feedback from academic staff, students, and industry partners, helping the Institute further refine its mission and strengthen its professional identity.

This international certification marks a significant milestone for UP FEIT and reinforces the Institute’s commitment to delivering globally relevant, high-quality architectural education.
