Dr József Bódis, Rector of the University of Pécs has
appointed Dr Gabriella Medvegy, Associate Professor of Institute of
Architecture, as the new dean of the Faculty Engineering and Information
Technology. The appointment will take effect on 1 February 2018 and will be
until 31 December 2021.
As a specific feature, the former Vice-Dean for International Relations (2013-2017) is the 5th female dean in the history of the University of Pécs.
After her appointment, she said:
„The Faculty of Engineering really means a lot for me. I am
so proud that it is my alma mater and I could work for it in this position. The
vision is an up-to-date campus, the internationalization, what is evident in
the higher education by now and flexibility in the educational portfolio
management.
Thanks to the innovations as a dual education, which were
started in the previous period led by Dr Bálint Bachmann, we have an
opportunity to establish a stronger appearance of our industrial partners
regarding their infrastructures, innovations, motivations and cooperation in
R+D+I situations.
The strengthening of the international study programs and
presences would also represent a catalyst. Due to the results of the
cross-border and cross-continental relations and researches, members of students,
lecturers and administrative staff are in connection with informatics,
engineering and architecture. In the frame of the Modern Városok Program, our
Faculty will be extended with two new workshop buildings for the benefit of the
growing number of international students”
At now, there are about 2500 students on the Faculty, 350 of
them are international students.
