At the end of August 2018, world-wide known professors, famous architects, designers and businessmen from China will visit the Faculty of Engineering and IT, University of Pécs to supervise the degree project work of Hungarian and Chinese students of architecture.

The delegation of about 60 persons – including the honorary doctor of University of Pécs Professor Wang Tie – will participate several programmes. They will also visit the famous architectural sites of Pécs. As part of the event the works of professors and students of the participating universities will be exhibited at the Boszorkány Campus of the university.

The premise of the event has been set by paying tribute to the 20th anniversary of the first university level programme in architecture at the University of Pécs.

The Institute of Architecture of the Faculty of Engineering and IT and the Breuer Marcel Doctoral School of the University of Pécs has been in close cooperation with the Chinese University Union since 2013. This organization brings 15 highly ranked Chinese universities and academies of arts together.

The most important event of the cooperation is the „4x4 Workshop”, a common degree project programme of graduating students of architecture. Chinese and Hungarian students of the foremost universities and academies present their degree project works to the professors of the participating higher education institutions.

The degree project works are supervised by the committee of famous professors and businessmen, thus the prospective architects are evaluated on international level. Representatives of big companies also participate in the committee, supervising and forming the project works of the students. This is a unique experience and possibility for the students as the best of them can obtain registration to the international master degree course of the Faculty of Engineering and IT, University of Pécs, or offered traineeship or job as designers, architects by international companies.

China Central Academy of Fine Arts – incorporating the eight highest ranked Chinese academies of arts and universities with degree programmes in architecture or its border areas as interior design, landscape design and environmental design - is a permanent participant of the programme. 

Tsinghua University is the top university in China by numerous international ranking. The excellent quality of their degree programmes and students makes this university an especially important partner for the international programmes of architecture and building engineering of the Faculty of Engineering and IT, University of Pécs providing student supply.
