We’re preparing a special, diverse evening – just like the Balkans themselves. The evening will be kicked off by the Pécs-based group SODRASH, who are preparing a specially reworked set for the occasion. They will be followed by SIN SEEKAS from Vojvodina in Serbia, and the evening will be rounded off by the Colombian-Hungarian DJ duo with their FIESTA BALKANIKA party.
We’ll take you on a journey from Hungarian folk song lyrics through the Balkans all the way to Bogotá!
SODRASH
SODRASH is an old-new band from Pécs, currently being reborn as a quartet. The
backbone of the band’s repertoire consists of songs that evoke the sounds of
classic American music – blues, soul, funk, and a touch of jazz – whilst the
lyrics are adapted, to a greater or lesser extent, from Hungarian folk songs.
Kornél “Keko” Kerekes provides the backbone on double bass, Miklós Vén plays
the viola, Szabolcs Pető plays guitar and sings, and, for the first time in the
band’s history, András “DJ BandiT” László has also joined the line-up,
responsible for the beats and the atmosphere.
SIN SEEKAS (RS)
Two Balkan-spiced wind instruments, a big mug of spicy rhythm section, lush
guitar solos, and a singer who can do it all. The Vojvodina band Sin Seekas
started out in 2010 as an acoustic trio with kazoos and cajons, and went on to
become one of the most influential band in the Vojvodina region. They have
already rocked festival stages in Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, and
Macedonia with their sincere energy. Sin Seekas is a world music band that
combines Balkan, ska, funk, and rock elements, acting as a melting pot between
Vojvodina, Serbia, and Hungary.
FIESTA BALKANIKA (CO/HU)
Latin-balkan dj duo, Dj Sometimes from Colombia, and LadaDiva straight from
Babócsa. Baile y muzica until dawn, salsa, manele, merengue, balkan brass, ska,
reggaeton, turbofolk, cumbia, Latin rock rhythms. This Latin-Balkan fusion
guarantees to keep the dancefloor alive!
