The oral entrance exam is the chance for the University Entry Committee to check your aims and motivation for choosing your field of studies. It is also a chance for us to check that your English language skills are adequate for completing the course. In the interview you will be asked to speak 4-5 minutes about yourself, and I suggest you prepare a short introduction about your background, including where you are from, your studies at school, and why you choose to study engineering/architecture.
In addition, I have written a list of questions that we may ask below:
For all students:What were your favourite subjects at school?
Why did you choose to apply to Pécs University? What do you know about Pécs/Hungary?
For engineering students:
How important is engineering in your country at the moment? Why?
Do you have a favourite engineer? What did they design?
What do you think about the urban environment of Pécs, (if you have lived in Pécs), or in your home country? What do you like and dislike about it?
Do you have favourite building material or structure? Why did you choose this?
Do you have any special interests inside the field of engineering? Why do you think it is important?
For architecture students:Our committee will look through your portfolio and ask a number of questions based on your work. These may include:
What is your favourite design? Why?
What were the challenges you had to solve in that design?
What experience do you have in architecture?
Do you have a favourite architect or style of architecture? Can you give some examples?
In architecture, do you have a special field of interest that you are especially interested in? Why is it important to you?
I hope this helps with your preparation for the exam. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
